Spring Care

Happy Spring Shiny Souls!

Spring Spirit—Magic

Where is your heart and mind? Have you felt up and down like the weather? Feeling groggy after a deep winter dive? Now is the time to awaken, come to your senses, and remember who you are.

Ah, yes—the new light, the burst of growth, the joy, and all the feels. Wakey, wakey. What is needed from you now? Are parts of your old self still lingering like dust on the altar?

It’s time to spring clean—not just your space, but your thoughts, heart, and body. Our bodies have been in a slow, cozy rhythm, basking in fire-lit evenings, reading, and cuddling. Now, as change comes swiftly, it may bring resistance.

Take a moment to notice what’s surfacing within you and around you. What’s frustrating you to the point of fire? Maybe that’s where you need to start. Which old habits need to burn in the fireplace before the tulips rise to greet your new self? What’s ready to go? Is it worth holding onto?

The messages are coming through loud and clear. Listen. The old way may be familiar and easy, but it’s also weighing you down. Okay, time to move on.

Spring invites us to open to our potential and engage our will to serve what we came here to do. Take stock of what’s excessive, stagnant, or draining your energy without truly lighting you up. Write these down. Light a candle, speak your intentions for change, and let that paper burn. Release it all and make way for the new!

The key is staying adaptable—shifting out of yourself and sharing what you have to offer with your community.

Spring Body—Nourishment

As days grow warmer, winter fat begins to "melt," impairing digestion and circulating as Ama (toxins).

Kapha (water and earth) is stirred up and needs to be pacified. This is the time for a Kapha-reducing diet, emphasizing bitter and tangy tastes.

Spring is nature’s fat-burning season, offering us a chance to shift how we metabolize energy. Many of us have become sugar-burners due to the constant influx of added sugars. It’s time to realign with our body’s natural preference for fat-burning.

Spring can also lead to excess water retention, which often shows up as mucus production and sluggish lymphatic flow.

Symptoms include bloating, fatigue, weight gain, pressurized bowels, hemorrhoids, low blood pressure, edema, pale complexion, swollen lymph nodes, and chronic congestion.

Nature’s antidote? Bitter roots like dandelion, burdock, chicory, ginger, and turmeric. Brew them into teas and add a touch of rehydrated dried fruit for sweetness.

Spring Dietary Guidelines

10% of your diet to come from fats

30% from protein

60% from carbs mostly in vegetable form

Lighten up with greens, micro-greens, sprouts, berries, asparagus, and other bitter or leafy greens.

Your body is ready for lighter, anti-mucus foods:

Sprouted lentils, garbanzo beans, mung beans, and more—packed with nutrients and chlorophyll, perfect for cleansing the blood.

Focus on lighter veggie soups, beans, and legumes that won’t contribute to winter’s heaviness, especially when soaked or sprouted.

Avoid wheat, dairy, sugars, sticky grains, and heavy foods, which lead to congestion.

Our bodies naturally align with the earth’s rhythms—cows are nursing their calves, and grains have yet to be harvested.

Notice improvements in your mood, sleep, and energy. Gradually eat less per meal, tuning into true hunger cues. Lunch should be your largest meal, while breakfast and dinner can be lighter.

Consider fasting. One day a week, abstain from food with water or green juices. Try intermittent fasting—no food after 6 PM until lunch the next day. For a deeper cleanse, try my four-day juice fast.

Spring Mind/Emotions—Wellbeing

Kapha’s water and earth elements can lead to heaviness, congestion, and sluggishness. Emotionally, it can bring lethargy, attachment, dullness, depression, and denial.

Combat this with sacred self-care:

  • Get inspired with new foods and dietary shifts

  • Move your body—walk, exercise, or rebound

  • Dry brush or salt scrub

  • Face what needs facing—step out of denial

  • Try hydrotherapy in showers (switching from hot to cold)

  • Fast or cleanse

When balanced, Kapha shines as nurturing, steady, compassionate energy.

Journaling Prompts:

  • What’s stirring in my heart?

  • What excites me right now? Do I want to dive deeper?

  • Are there old beliefs about my abilities that hold me back?

  • Do my past strengths still serve me? Are they fulfilling?

Happy Springing, Dear Ones!

With love,

Kristina
